John Marchant has donated his Ford three-ton General Service truck to the Base Borden Military Museum in Canada.

It hit the news big time (for a CMP truck, that is):

Via Robert Morrison: "British man donates Second World War truck to local museum": https://www.collingwoodtoday.ca/loca...-group-6073700

"Friends of Borden Memorial Museum gets wartime Ford truck donation": https://www.simcoe.com/community-sto...truck-donation

"Rare Second World War vehicle added to collection at Borden Military Museum": https://pspborden.com/CitizenOnline/...litary-museum/

And a photo of John behind the wheel. Plus, a "before" photo of his truck

Good news indeed!

I hope that as the Museum puts together their information board about the truck they mention John Marchant's multiple contributions to the preservation of MVs (including CMPs) as well as the truck's history.

Good point, here is some input they can use: http://mvtsem.com/168701.html. And I would be happy to copy John Marchant's book "Work and Play with ex-Military Vehicles".

Anything to get a museum to make a useful and correct information board! :)

John Marchant

That is a generous gift by John Marchant, one of the pioneers of CMP collecting. Nice to see him pictured in the Ford.

Amen to Grant Bowker's comments about John. Back in the day, as they say, and long before CMP information was so easy to come by, John published a great little book "Work and Play with Ex-Military Vehicles including Canadian Register". The forward was written by W.A.M. (Bill) Gregg and the book was "dedicated to my farming and other cousins in Canada".
