Volunteers wanted

All,

To keep this forum up and running and make some improvements, I need the help of people who know vBulletin, the software this forum runs on. Some of the things I need figuring out (but lack the time to do so) is:
  • changing the standard messages sent out when one signs up, etc.
  • adding a forum
If you or anyone else has some spare time to get oneself acquainted with vBulletin, please do and post your findings here. Their forum seems to be a good place to start reading and asking questions.

Thanks in advance!

Regards,
Hanno

Extra Help

Hanno & team,
My apologies for not replying earlier to this post. I would love to be more help.
Maybe it is your wording in your post ("experts") that has scared others like me off from offering help here before.
I have never used vBulletin before, but would like to learn more to help where I can. Until I give this wretched job of mine the flick time is very much a premium around here, but I am sure that Keith can clue me up very quickly on his next visit, due in several weeks. What do you reckon, Keefy? :teach:

(PS I just re-read this post and I apologise for my poor use of the human language! Too tired to amend it right now...)

Howard,

Thanks for your reponse. I removed 'vBulletin experts" from the title to make the initial threshold lower.

Let me know how you get on with Keefy.

Regards,
Hanno

All,

I finally managed to spend more time studying the workings of vBulletin. This resulted in a change to the standard messages sent out when one signs up.

New members are now pointed to the membership requirements to join this forum. This should greatly reduce the admin burden of vetting membership applications. Registrations with very creative or meaningless user names makes it very hard for us to check who is behind the alias. I hope that waste of time is now beyond us.

Regards,
Hanno
