Indeed. Amazing what people have stored away in barns and on properties.

I bet he was tickled pink when he found out he could keep his AFVs ;-)

“The unnamed collector of historic weaponry has been in possession of the hardware since the 1990s. He believed he owned the tank and the artillery platform legally, but wasn’t sure if they had been properly deactivated.

The police said that the menacing guns were harmless, but still found some inconsistencies in their deactivation with the current rules. The man was given time to fix those issues, so that he could keep the military vehicles in his garage.

No explanation has been provided as to why the tank was pink.”

If I had to guess: about 30 years ago, right after the Eastern Bloc collapsed, there was a trend for painting monument tanks, pink. I wouldn’t be surprised if this one had been painted like that at the time and simply never got a new coat, or that it got painted in the same spirit sometime after.

I would say faded red oxide primer. The Panther in Grandmenil, Belgium, used to have the nickname "the pink panther", as it was also painted in red primer and left in the sun for years.
