CMP Start Switch?

What is the best start switch to use on an F15a truck, early square instrument panel? I haven't really been happy with what is available. They all seem to be near flush mounts.

Hi Eric,

Attached photos:

My original, as far as I know, starter switch mounted in the dash. Embossed with "Start" and uses a plastic or bakelite button.

Next two photos show a nineties repro switch of unknown origin, chrome plated with chrome steel button on the left side, and a current Dennis Carpenter Repro chrome plated with plastic button on the right.

Older repro is not marked "Start" but the Dennis Carpenter one is lightly engraved and not embossed with "Start"

Other than those differences any one would do the job and be a good match.

The original one is very flush with the dash as are the other repros.

Sometimes people modify the hole for the starter switch making it bigger to use more readily available switches. Perhaps this is why yours is not flush.

Hope this is of some help.

Cheers,

Start Switch

Thanks Jacques,
I could never find them in Mac's or Dennis Carpenter. The only thing is that these original style switches look like they are set up for positive earth, as they only have one terminal. My truck will be negative earth.

Eric, all the switch does is earths out to complete the circuit. The switch is not polarity sensitive.
They are available in different colours.
The switch has to earth in the mounting hole. If the dash panel is nicely painted, the button might not work. Ask me how I know.
