No. 51 L.C. Mk. 1 S scope

I have just come across a No. 51 scope for a 17Pdr (sorry, no photo). Does anyone know what the aiming reticle should look like in this scope? Would it have been used on the Firefly and Achilles?

I use this link for the basis of determining usage on a lot of the sighting telescopes: http://www.wwiiequipment.com/index.p...data&Itemid=61

I believe, as the sight shows, that the no51 is for the 17 pdr guns, replacing the no41. The no41 was also used later on the 25pdrs.

The link shows no43 for 17 pdrs on the shermans.

Thanks for the link Rob.
One of the members of the museum committee I sit on brought it in for "show and tell", thinking it might be a sight used on a Firefly. I am still looking for what the aiming reticle should look like for a 17 Pdr. gun.

The sighting telescopes come up on ebay all the time, and as well you can still see the photos on the "completed auctions" for a time. There are also sites that show historic auctions with their photos. Once you find which scope you are after, search through those means and some sellers will show views through the scopes.

Firefly has 30 cal coax mount and reticule reflects that giving MG scale as well as 17pdr.
