Here the monster is dragged from it's lair of forty years and loaded.

Steve Stone that well know C30 11 cab OCMPG member ponders the meaning of true insanity back at our other workshop.

I have to say here and now Steve was a real star and without his help for three weekends on the trot to prepare the truck for recovery David and I would have faced a consdirably harder task.

Steve's mate Keith also deserves thanks for driving the recovery truck right through the middle of Bath with bits falling off, .........what me officer ?.

Work is ongoing and it will be a few more years yet………… but David has a really pukka cab that we shipped in from the sates and is collecting all the hard to find bits on e-Bay. As the truck is basically pre war US commercial it's not as hard as you may think. The gantry body we will build from scratch using a friends as pattern..........unless we can find one.

The Dodge WK60, one of my all time favourite trucks unfortunatly not a lot of publicity surrounded these vehicles imported to the UK as cab/chassis and then fitted out with the same british standard gantry recovery body as the Austin K6. Many were shipped out to North Africa and worked there way up through Italy others were issued to units in the UK prior to D Day, funny thing i have yet to come across aphoto of any in use in Europe following the landings. A further interesting point did they all make it across the Atlantic again never seen any records of vehicle losses on these convoys.

A couple of photos that may help Pete and David the first two are at the Dodge factory and depict how they were imported to the UK

Pete I would love some photos as this is one on my list of models to build.

Is there any chance of some basic chassis measurements and details of the cab interior please?

Thanks
Cliff :)

Pete as I was typing this You and Les posted the pics. Thank you both. I would also be interested in the measurements from a gantry body as well if poss.

It could be

It's is the right size of cab, but if I'd just seen the picture I'd have guessed it was a GMC cabover compressor truck.

Great photo Hanno, not one I’ve seen before but I do believe I have another photo of the same vehicle either winching itself or being pulled out of a ditch.
Thanks for sharing,
Dave

Some pictures of WK-60s in use with the Polish 1st Armoured Division courtesy of Tobias Siotor:

Very useful in my investigation of deciphering photo archives of my great grandfather Jan Jaworski who has served in 21st Group Army Under Marshal Montgomery during II World War.

My ancestor has served in Workshop Units REME and he was a mechanic of tanks and cars. He could also fix the remote stations
And telecommunications equipment. He has served in 10th Workshop Company and by the end of the War in HQ Liason units of the Polish First Armoured Division of Gen. S. Maczek.

Hereby I post several photos which are relevant for this group including vehicles which he work with.

Enjoy and thanks for comments. I don’t know all of the models but I believe there are good experts here.

Thanks in advice and best regards form the Netherlands.
