C15A water truck restoration

I’ll post some more pictures of this project as I get more of it home but for now I’m just working on the mechanics. I have what I believe is the original transmission mounted PTO for the water pump. Unfortunately the switch and cover are in poor shape and has been repaired in the past. I’m hoping someone has another PTO or at least the cover and switch. Could you look into the cobwebs and see if you can help me out?

similar, not same though.

having searched the web I found only one reference to anything similar but on a 15 year old posting. i did find one on eBay that looks almost identical but a different manufacturer. I believe mine would leak all over the place.

Will it be a beer tanker truck????

Hi Harry.

Any picture of the PTO with the cover on???

I did strip a water truck chassis with power train.... can't remember if it had the PTO.... a picture would help me search or trigger my memory..... if I have it it is probably still attached to the tranny to keep it from leaking..... easier to find!!!

Is that PTO exclusive to the water truck......??? there were other PTO for the 4 speed crash box to drive various commercial equipment and they do surface on Ebay once in a while....usually to drive a winch.

Cheers

I was directed to a PTO that was similar and i got it, I'll use the cover as it is an exact fit for my brazed piece. :sheep:

You might get away with building up the worn face with bronze and then refacing it on a milling machine. What type of seal did they use ? Looking at the pics, it looks like an old rope seal, these were used in Vintage cars and other old pumps.

The switch may be repairable, it might fit in a 4 jaw chuck and you could build it up with bronze and machine it back to size .
