The Forgotten War

It is a movie best forgotten and typical of current Second World War films, lots of interesting kit and uniforms, but a terrible story.

It's not a documentary style movie, describing the Battle of the Scheldt in detail. It is a story about young people's lives during in war. They did manage to reach the younger public with the story, at least here in The Netherlands. See https://www.imdb.com/title/tt10521092/ for more details and reviews.

My son was an extra for two days, had great fun dressing up and during the shooting. Lots of waiting and hanging around, just like the real army :)

Hi

I guess I missed the posting in 2021 but that was a bad year for me.

So I watched a few segments on Youtube and I read the plot and get the gist of the story. Yup, it's a war movie. Not a historical reenactment/representation (with or without 100% accuracy of props) by any means and should not be judged along those lines. A commercial film production that would probably be rather dull and unprofitable if license wasn't taken in filming and plot.

Sure looks good though for a war movie. Better than Telly Savalas as Sgt Guffy or about 500 million other war movies out there.

regards
Darrell
