Service Disruption

Sorry about that everyone. The data centre we were in had problems, so my account was switched over to another. I've changed all the IPs etc, but it may take a day or so before the relevant info is propagated throughout the internet world to all name servers.

We appear to have lost all posts made here since early on the 29th, which is a nuisance as well. I don't have a backup covering those last two days, which is making me feel really guilty right now... I think I'll start backing up daily from this point onwards.

Shit happens sometimes, and yes, it sucks. It's been harder on me than on you, believe me!

Let's spread the word and keep in touch.

Geoff

Thanks, Geoff

Geoff,

just a quick thank you for all your efforts in keeping us informed and in getting the Forum up and running again. Speaking for the lurkers, we sure miss it when it's not available.

Cheers,

Brian

Thanks

...for the encouragement, guys. It's been a bit rough. Screw it, we'll drive on!

Hanno has suggested, and I think I'm going to explore, moving to a new provider. If and when that happens there will be no service interruption and you'll all be notified well in advance.

Sorry about this...it wasn't part of the service package I signed on for... :(

:yappy: is out there, but hasn't yet figured out the vagaries of IP addresses yet... :D :p

:yappy: says :p ... not THAT kind of a date, my friend. Besides, SHE doesn't own a kilt. Besides, I don't part with my independence easily, even for a kilt owner of the opposite gender ;) (or at all? )

Geoff, thanks for getting the forum back on-line and keeping us posted while we were chewing our nails and pacing to and fro behind the confuser refreshing the URL every couple of minutes :D :D
Seriously, your current provider isn't up to scratch, as far as I'm concerned (worse than Network54 in the bad old days...). If there's time and money available to switch over to a new provider, I'd vote for it. I can't really help with the effort involved (or can I?), but I'd happily make another donation towards Keeping Maple Leaf Up! - I'm sure there are others willing to chip in to keep their peace of mind, too ;)

Cool!!!

I just got in here with the usual link I always use ... MLU works again folks :) Its about 06:30 CDT

Hanno ... I agree! Don't know what I can come up with but I'll try :( :)

Everything's Up Again

...including my SUNRAY email. Continue as per normal.

Hanno, I AM going to scout about for a suitable provider, but I'll take my time and keep watching this one until we have more problems. At THAT time, I'll be ready to act quickly. I agree that our history here has been less than stellar, although they've generally met their service guarantee of 99% uptime. Service blips one can expect in this world, but outages that last for hours at a time are not acceptable.

Leave it with me...

Hopefully, all's well that ends well at least for this episode.

Thanks Geoff for persevering and once more bringing back the MLU Forum from the ashes. As mentioned in my email, I am not competent to advise on a new/better provider but the one you use is quite popular down here and works pretty well for most site owners. Down time, of course, but not as bad as some.

As for me, today is my day off so I stopped in at the Doctor's for a quick checkup and he tells me my blood pressure is back to almost normal and the palsied quivering I was experiencing seems to have also pretty well disappeared. As a parting gesture, realizing the suffering I had been through the last two days or so he also prescribed one extra measure of scotch for the next two days.

Gotta love these American doctors even though they charge the earth. One does seem to get one's moneys worth once in a while.

Thanks for your kind comments... indeed, time will tell.

BTW, a wee dram of 'The Creature' on a regular basis cures all ills (my daddy taught me that).... :D

Carry on, sir!

Geoff,

I thought that penecillin on a regular basis cured these problems?!

Ha, ha, ha.

Stewart

PS - are you still good for the Acton fling?

Ha ha yerself, moron! :p After it works once, ya need something a bit stronger... besides, while penicillin may be a cure, The Creature is a preventative (haven't been sick for years now, no bug could possibly survive in my system!)... :D

Yep, reckon so, looks like it, although as stated earlier, I might camp. I'll stay in touch with you on that! Get Perry out with his carrier too! The boy needs some exercise... :)
