REL Radar trailers
I had a request over on the artillery section for shots of the two REL Radar trailers located here in Shilo.
Here are shots of the two, along with a shot of the US pattern trailer used with the 90mm gun. Here is the first trailer: http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v2...psf1812bf9.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v2...ps2a4bfba7.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v2...psbfe88ac4.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v2...pse2965fe7.jpg The second Cdn trailer: http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v2...ps67715ccc.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v2...psbe672989.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v2...psded36d6d.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v2...ps370b4797.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v2...psfb8e1620.jpg |

Thanks Rob These may be the only examples of these radar cabins on display anywhere in the world ,that are in such good condition. The parabolic antenna for the M-33 Fire control radar ( M-242 trailer) was on the museum site back in 2006, next to the APF cabin... see attached

Yes, it is still around. I took it down to the sandblasting/painting establishment back in July. It must still be in progress.
One of the trailers was getting into a rather poor condition. They were insulated with a waxy cardboard honeycomb type insulation which retained water and caused the sides to rust a bit. The sandblast paint shop was able to correct the problem. |
