Hood Bows OFF??

Todays quiz, what are these four Hood Bows off?

7ft wide, just under 5ft high.

Two are straight all the way down, two have the dog leg on the bottom.

Any ideas?

Rich.

Well..

One of my trucks Richard. I thought I left 'em at your place

Bearing in mind that there are two straight and two doglegs does this still mean Ford?
Also that they seem to be in groups of three or five, not the four here. Been through the Blueprint Victory and have not seen a match.
Hard to find a photo with frames but no canvas.
I need a definite ID so (Take note Tony) I can try to find a new home for them...
One of these bows even has a war wound, a bullet hole through it.

The bodies were made by different companies so the dogleg isn't a Ford versus Chev thing.
Those bows have the holes to attach the horizontal bars and that started with the 2C1 bodies in 1942.
The doglegs might just be an Aussie thing since Military Vehicle Profiles doesn't show any like that.

I suggest they may be off a Chevrolet or Ford Ute. They had doglegs in the bows to bring the canvas out to the corners of the "styleside" bodies.

Australian made wooden bodies on 3 ton MCP Chev, Ford, International etc also had the bent bows at the rear. :note:

There is a great photo on Flikr

1942 Chevrolet blitz

Shows the bows with doglegs very plainly at a victorian show.

Dog leg appears to be a little less than the ones in question, but is certainly looking right.

Would a set of four hoops be off a mid wheel base?

They are not a part I have taken a lot of notice of over the years, and I have been at a bit of a loss to work out what they are for the current owner. So thanks for the input guys.

Rich.

A bit of thread jacking
Along the lines of hood bows though
Does anyone know what this might be off ?
Spacing is wrong for Aust GS body but seems military with similar curves and paint to suggest ex military

Andrew,

Looks like a set off a Lend-Lease Chev. to me.

Rick.
