F15A differential parts

I have a 1941 Ford 15cwt that I need the front axle Crown and Pinion gears for. Does anyone have a serviceable set, or know where I can get one?

Which Axle Type

Hi David

Which axle type do you have Fords used both the Ford (split in the middle) and GM style.

According to my F-15A parts book the differentials carrier, ring and pinion are the same front or rear. Can someone who is more familiar with Fords confirm this?

Cheers Phil

Crown Gear and Pinion

Hi:
I have a spare frontend assembly. It sat out for years. and I have had it in dry starage for years. I have no idea what condition gears would be in, but if push comes to shove, I could split it and have a look.

'Tis true, both the front and rear axle used the same 6.5:1 ratio ring and pinion. The good news is that they were also interchangeable with the ring and pinion fitted to the Chev C15A. The bad news is that the ring gear (aka Crown wheel) is rivetted to the carrier (aka Hemisphere), not bolted, so it is probably better to source the whole innards of a diff rather than a loose ring and pinion. IF you can source the fluted rivets, then re-fitting a 2nd hand ring gear might not give enough tension for the rivets to bite into.

Thanks for the info so far. I will get more details as soon as I can and then I will be able to ask the right questions. :)
