We loaded these onto Hugh's truck yesterday afternoon after finding a convenient loading dock in an antiques yard.

They are now safely in Corowa. Front one is Swiss Chris' F15 and the rear one a C15A belonging to Russell Hughes.

We're HERE!

Chris and I rolled into Corowa this evening after the scenic tour via Seville, Healesville, Glenburn then through Yea to Benalla and Corowa.

Lots of nice CMPs here including Howard's cab 12 and the Hedges' cab 11. There are also THREE CMP ambulances here - and it's only Wednesday!

Have caught up with a lot of MLU-ers already. For those about to depart don't forget the group shot at 12.30 Sat - meet in front of the cherry picker at the airport. :thup2:

Hello Robert,

Sorry to hear your sad news, I have just gone through the same with my mother in January so know how you feel.

After all your hard work getting the Blitz on the road, at least you got it to Corowa, always next year though.

best regards, Richard

Hot News from Corowa!

Just heard from Jan, that the last count of vehicles attending was 195.......sounds like it was a good show. There were two thunderstorms there on Sat. afternoon.

Well done :salute:

Col Tigwell 14-03-09 11:17

Very sad situation Robert, hope you and yours get back to normal soon.

Always sad to say goodbye.

Every best wish

Of the number no less than 41 were CMPs, easily beating our Guinness World Record (albeit unofficially) of 34 set in 2002.

Oh yes, and the rain p15ssed down too, although not on the parade or swap meet fortunately.

Home already

Lunch time Sunday, and its all over and back at home (massive 30 minute drive for me!).
Scored a ride in the Buffalo (maaagnificent), 1st drive in a White scout Car (Felt right at home in that.....), put a few more faces to MLU names, and of course saw Bob and Phoenix in action for the first time: don't think we'll ever get that smile off his face.
No pics as my camera did not survive the first day, so am waiting to see everyone elses.
Hats of to KVE crew for an outstanding effort. (Marshaling for the parade worked a treat).
Rich

Hi Richard

Don't worry - we've shot plenty!

Lots of interviews this year from some interesting people.

It's turned into a bit of a ghost town here now. I'm leaving in the morning as I still have a few interviews to do.

From the Yass Mob: We are all home and buggered.

Just a couple of hick-ups with fuel problems and people getting lost. Took us some 10 hours from Corowa to Yass.

Made it in time for breakfast!

Corowa has seen some progress since last year, including a new McDonalds store.

Of course, Somebody had to christen the Drive-thru! I suppose they were lucky it wasn't opened last year otherwise they might have had an M3 Stuart perform the task!

G'Day All
We got home to Sunny Ganmain yesterday afternoon, absolutely buggered!
You can tell the Kids had a great time, they were as cranky & ratty as buggery last night & slept right through to about 7.30 this morning.
The old 1964 International did the job well, and used only 100 litres of diesel in total for the trip of around 440km.
I arrived on the Wednesday afternoon along with work mate Lee who until a few weeks ago knew very little about Blitz Trucks.
The little F15 drew a lot of attention (rightly so!) while parked at the camp site and on its many tours of the caravan park leading up to the parade. By Thursday afternoon We had shaken many hands and Lee became an authority on all things F15!
Ganmain Tony (and Cleveland) turned up on Thursday & my Boys arrived very early Saturday Morning with mate Glenn who left Wagga Wagga at 4.15am to make the parade.
After some headaches regarding the F15's road permit (it seems rules not only vary from state-to-state, but town-to-town) a permit was acquired and drove 2nd in line of the Blitz's to the Hedges' #11 cab Chev.
Saturday night was well rounded off with a feast fit for a king!
If anyone has a photo of my truck in the parade I would appreciate a copy.
It was great to catch up once again, and I am sorry that there were many, many people I did not get the opportunity to meet. But there is always next year!

We all had a really good time, wonderful to see so many Blitzes.

Howard, good to see you've posted a photo of the oldest Blitz attending, besides the other one :D I guess that will please Max...

Jan Thompson 16-03-09 08:58

Hopefully within the next day or so I will be able to post a list of the vehicles at Corowa this year.

If anyone has a story about their trip to Corowa, trip home from Corowa or a story they would like me to include in my newsletter report please email it to me. I have Swiss Chris putting a story together for me and would like a few other stories.

It took months, but Emma painstakingly and lovingly removed all the dirt, caked-on grease, oil and paint from this cab 12 and then just as carefully applied the paint... all with her tongue.

Here is a pic of her after she had steam cleaned and sandblasted her tongue back to normal.
