For you Battle of Britain movie nuts...

some new behind the scene footage... I can't believe they let the movie production company blow up that Duxford hangar. A local Manitoba chap Bob Diemart flew his Hurri in this movie. Cheers Rob

Hi Rob

Thanks for sharing that link, watched the clip and then pulled the DVD of the movie and watched that really interesting seeing what was behind some of the shots.

Have you found the 16mm documentary he is talking about?

Cheers Phil

They story I heard is that they weren't allowed, and the site is now listed to prevent damage to any of the other hangers. The hangers date from World War 1.

another example of how movie companies dont have much consideration for historical artifacts.. Having been on a few movie shoots, I learned why i would NOT rent my restored vehicles to movie companies any more...

The show was very enjoyable, but Derek Robinson's aviation novels, both WWI and WWII, are definitely worth hunting down and reading. I've read all but the last of the WWII series, taking place in North Africa, but can't find a copy even on Amazon.

Thanks for posting this topic. I've just gone and pulled my DVD of Battle of Britain for a much overdue re-watching.
