The Ram Registry has been updated with several hundred new entries.

Couple of new pics, thank to Dave Block on the AFV News Discussion Board.

Here's the second one:

Ram (and Sherman) tanks at an unknown site in the UK used to store and prepare tanks from overseas.

We know from the TKC number (1171) that this tank's CT number was CT159658.
There are two entries on the ramtank.ca website on this specific vehicle.

What about this Ram "tank", then?!? :eek:

here is a photo of taken during the move of the Greg Collection quite a few years ago.

I have a series of photos taken of the various vehicles and the movement to the rail head.

Is this what I think it is?

I can see Palm trees and something that looks like a RAM hull...

If you are suggesting that it is a Ram Kangaroo in Dutch service somewhere in the East Indies.......than I think you are right.

Alex, the description is quite clear about where this picture was taken, but I have never heard about Ram tanks in Indonesia. Could it be we are thinking "Ram" but really seeing something different? If not, we have a real enigma to solve!

Rogier Peeters suggested on the Overvalwagen Forum the picture shows the curved rear plate of an M3A3 Stuart. I think that is indeed what we see.

I think you're right, Hanno... and look closely at the engine - it's too small to be an R-974 methinks...

Those are Ram tanks of course. . .

Thanks for the input. I recently changed PCs and my data got so screwed up that I am afraid to upload anything to RamTank right now. I am going to install a better FTP program and suck back the website onto my PC in order to ensure that I have the latest version before adding stuff - and your 'stuff' will be the first to get added.

I recently received an e-mail from a 49th Kangaroo commander, Anthony (Tony) Booth, who identified himself in one of my photos. I will be amending that photo at the same time.

Good to hear Tony is still around, he´s a great guy and resource!

I´ll dig further for additional info while you sort out your site.

Also, I have added pages on the Sexton, Grizzly and Skink with a lot of photos. Thanks to Kevin Tucker for use of his Sexton database. I could really use Grizzly photos.

Who's been a busy boy?

Hi to all -

Brilliant find...

Ref the gunnery shots showing the HQ vehs CT-40001 & CT-40016...does anyone know the unit ? I have not got these listed (yet).

Also, I note that many of the shots have the DND Nos on the vehs. Does anyone have a correlation 'twixt DND & veh manufacturers number that would then allow the same with the eventual CT No ?

I have been slowly going through all the Canadian Armoured War Diaries Microfilms. Found the following notes in 21 CAR (GGFG) Pt 1 Orders for 26 Nov 42 (Microfilm T-12721, p.436/7)...a rather long-winded warning !

No.1467 USE OF 80 OCTANE PETROL IN RAM TANKS

1. To clear up any confusion which may exist regarding the proper grade of fuel to be used in Ram Tks, the following information is given:

(a) 80 Octane petrol is to be used only in tks equipped with R-975 E.C.1 engines or modified R-975 E.C.2 engine.

(b) The R-975 E.C.1 engine has been installed starting with tank serial number 40002. These new engines start with engine serial number 122699.

(c) There are, however, a certain number of tks which have modified E.C.2 engines whose serial number is lower than the above mentioned. These engines are identified by a green spot on the inside cover of the magneto lubricator. It is to be noted that the identification will NOT appear on magnetos fitted to engines above serial number 122698.

2. To summarize - 80 Octane Fuel will only be used in engine number 122699 and up or in engines having a lower number but which have a green spot on inside cover of magneto lubricator.

3. It is obvious that under no circumstances should magnetos be switched from one engine to another and that, if a magneto becomes unserviceable, the proper type should be used as a replacement.

4. At the present time only one of the tks in the Bde (CT 39867 - Serial No. 120359 held by H.Q. Sqn. 4 Cdn Armd Bde) requires 87 Octane Fuel. As new tks are issued, some others may require this 87 Octane petrol and this will be carefully checked.

5. R.C.A.S.C. 4 Cdn Armd Div has a stock of 87 Octane petrol but will issue it only to those tks requiring it. Other tks will use 80 Octane petrol.

Only just noted that the whole film covers the S Alberta Regt and the Alberta Recce Regt - so I presume that CT-40001 & CT-40016 are from RHQ Tp, S Alberta Regt ?

Here's a photo I purchased at a flea market a few years ago. The location is apparently what is now the University of Victoria; then Gordon Head Camp. There were two others showing Universal Carriers, but no names given on those.

Quick addition to Hanno's old post - I see you're all satisfied that it's not a RAM and the curved backplate looks like a Stuart variant. I think one can see the V-belt running from the engine to the Generator down the lower left of the motor which a W-670 7cyl motor would have.
