Paint

Hello, I'm wondering if anyone has a source for the green used by the British on vehicles before 1944? I'd need to be able to source it to Canada.

Hi. In a nut shell, the service colour chosen by the WO at the outbreak of war was Khaki Gas Proof No3. There is no BS number for this colour, although I have managed to match it fairly accurately by trial and error from original parts.

By 1942-3 due to the shortage of the yellow Ochre used in this paint the service colour was changed to Earth or Service brown. Followed by British Olive Drab in 1944.

It's probably correct to assume that more vehicles during the war and the invasion in 1944 were brown rather than green.
