Kinda interesting find

Here's a very recent acquisition that I made. Some of you who have been in Toronto during the annual Canadian National Exhibition (locally know as The CNE / The Ex) might recognize it. For decades they used several of these to tow those coaches (?) with people from one end of the fair grounds to another. No doubt most of you know what's underneath.

It's the Chugga! Chugga! Chugga! that makes it go.
Clarktor maybe?

A little 1942 Clarktor 6 tug (light). It's like a lawn tractor on steroids and pretty complete. There's a gent named Joe who that runs a Yahoo group who can supply delivery dates (12 November 1942 to the Indianapolis Storage Depot at the Indiana State Fair Grounds) and you can download an extensive collection of manuals. I believe it was originally yellow in colour and the Clark serial number is #L2736. There's a bit of confusion about about the government number. It's either W-817942 or W-818411. Joe tells me that likely it's been built up from a couple of tugs. Would any of you seasoned pros know anything about these tugs in Canadian service and how common they are? Thanks,

Another angle

I'll see if I can gingery get it up and running (previous owner says it hasn't run for ~ two years). Hopefully there's another one around here somewhere that I can copy the engine cowling from.

What a wonderful compact MV to own, and unusual. Great, look forward to this.

Something like that used by the CNE post war in Toronto.
Hmmm, might be an interesting post to follow, afterall there were numerous RCAF aerodomes all over Southern Ontario as well as manufacturers like Avro just up the road! Can anyone say Lancaster factory tow tug? |
That's what I'm hoping. I haven't a clue how I'd find out. Maybe the CWM in Ottawa? I'm primarily a long time warbird nut and I figured that this is about as close as I'll ever get to owning a Spit, Tiffy, Jug, Mossie, Lanc, etc... Besides, it goes nice and sloooow....
