M5A1 Stuart

Guys, I thought I saw an advert for a Stuart on the MLU site in recent months or maybe somewhere else. Any Help??? An associate was inquiring so I thought I'd check for him. Thanks!

You're going back a 'ways, Chris! That was November 2001:

:)

That one was sold to another American friend of mine who already had one, and is now running two of the beautiful little buggers.

If there's been another up for sale since, I haven't heard about it, although there was a basically empty hull on Ebay a year or so ago. Running Stuarts are popular and expensive given their relatively small size.

If your friend is serious, I can put the word out in other circles...

MilWeb

Chris,

Every now and then Stuarts are offered for sale on MilWeb: http://www.milweb.net/
In fact, two of them at the moment.

Hanno

I saw your question, and may well have a good reply.I've been trying to gather parts for an M5A1 Stuart for years, and have decided to put it up for sale,as I don't think I have the time to put on it now.I have an empty hull, turret, about 50% of a suspension, and some interior parts.I would sell it for about $7,500.00 Canadian.Whoever buys it would have to arrange his own transport.I don't think this can be shipped out of Canada. All the parts are located in Ontario. Thanks

I hope one of us here picks it up. Sounds like a great project vehicle.

There's most of one at Elliott's in Newtonville. Or most of one.

Newtonville.

It is at Elliott Auto Wreckers (or Auto Parts). Number is 905-786-2255, I think. Speak to Don or George. It is a hull with turrett and track and some wheels. Good luck.

Thanks for the info!

Thanks Peter, I appreciate that info, hope ithe Stuart is still there.

Enthusiast Blue, I have sent you a PM , but you may not have logged in, so I will ask here, is your vehicle still for sale? Can you send me a list of what parts you have, and what you still need., as I am very interested in your Stuart.

As I am currrently serving in the Cdn Military in Afghanistan I can only check this site periodically, I am back out of the wire today from Kandahar Airfield, and should be back in a week or two, I will check my messages and this website than.

I appreciate your assistance in this manner.

Cheers,

Rob McCue

running gear??

Just west of Montreal there's truck stop with several derelict 'hot-rodded' high speed tractors. Really. I'm not sure if it's compatible but the running gear looks a lot like Stuart.

Thanks very much for the tip,but the M5 tractor is quite different, and the drive sprockets are about only the same thing on it.A cut down M5A1 hull would be the ultimate thing to find, but I never was able to find one so far.

Just to let everyone interested know,it looks like the Stuart will be assigned to the South Alberta Regiment in the near future. Thanks for your interest, R. Cohoon
