M151A2 question?

Does the Canadian M151A2 with ROPS use top bows with the soft top or not? If not how does it secure to the ROPS to keep it from flapping and ballooning?

Thanks
John

The roll bar (cage) is the size required for the top. Even the door handles were modified to catch the roll cage. The only remnants of the original top superstructure were the rods that were over and back of the doors.

The tarps were a good tight fit to the roll cage.

As an aside, the ROPS term was American, and our roll cages pre-dated their ROPS by a number of years.

I have quite a few of the Cdn cages left from when I dis-assembled these Jeeps back in the late 80s.

How does it work?

The tarp, doors and curtains work quite well thank you. The cage is sized to fit UNDER the existing vinyl. Mine has a bit too much room for sagging when it rains heavily. I slide a piece of 1/2" plywood and some left over Corplast election signs between the bars and the top when it is sitting.

A few changes were necessary. First the existing 1" dia tube frame and diagonals disappeared. As Rob said, there is a strap pocket for the door post which snags the bottom end, hinges behind the driver's ear. The front end slips into a sheet metal fitting and needs a couple of gas line hose and a cotter pin.

The inside leg of the door handle is long enough to hook behind the middle post. Some of the straps might be lengthened, but otherwise the stock and supply of tarps, doors and curtains would function.

Ok so next question, is there only one vinyl top? Or is there a Canadian with rollcage and a different one for US models with top bows? I purchased a NOS vinyl top which seems far too loose to me. Should there be padding around the cage? Looks like most don't have any save for USMC ones...

It's dark outside now. Tomorrow I'll post any NSNs I can find. Maybe you are right.

Tarpaulin is the normal US made one. There may have been a modification to the tarp, I'll have a look in the modification CFTOs.
