We lost a member this week. God speed Mike.
"After a lengthy illness, during a brief stay, at Peterborough Regional Health Centre on Monday, June 27, 2016 in his 60th year. Loving partner of Sandra Murray for many years. Predeceased by his parents Lawrence Reimer and Anita (nee Williams) and his step-father Gordon & survived by his step-mother Nancy Jean Gray. Mike will be missed by Sandra's family. Michael was an employee of General Motors for over 20 years retiring in 1999. Mike worked tirelessly at The Royal Canadian Legion for over 25 years having served in many executive positions including president. He interviewed veterans from the area and wrote their war stories in the local paper in the '90's. He was a member of O.M.V.A., F.M.V.A. & R.C.L. and Memorial Military Museum in Campbellford. He was the recipient of several awards from his contribution to the Canada Remembers Program including the Governor General Ministry of Veteran's Affairs Award Commendation and The Queen's 50th Jubilee Medal. He was awarded The Re-Enactors Shield 1st place in 2013 and 2nd place in 2015 at the C.N.E. His passion was to show off his military vehicles and displays at all of the military shows. Visitation will begin at 11:30 am followed by a funeral service at 1:00 pm on Monday, July 4, 2016 at COMSTOCK FUNERAL HOME & CREMATION CENTRE, 356 Rubidge Street. Interment to follow at Emily Cemetery. Memorial donations to a charity of your choice would be appreciated.
