Scarves to order

Hi
If this is permitted, Chilly winter coming according to the Almanac (which one doesn't matter) and my elbows have been making noises (AVGP X-Country at speed). My Wife is Craft-y and made me a present for this season of fun, as she calls it. I am interested in WW2 medals so she made the typical ribbon row of x5 WW2 Canadian medals into a nice warm scarf for me. She did the same for her currently serving Brother and his x7, a x4 modern Cdn row for another, a modern British x5, one long scarf in the India General Service Medal etc etc etc. She does do devices like CD rosettes, CVSM OS leaf and MiD. Two of her WW2 sets are going to Legions and she's made a couple of deceased vets for their for family members. Therefore I offer to you all a custom made crochet scarf in the British/Canadian ribbon combination of your choice. Crimea to Modern day (subject to the long-haired General's confirmation). See examples below. Single stitch crochet in quality acrylic and all colours are confirmed through my Medal Yearbook (2014 Ed). WW1 Victory Medal style or Kabul to Kandahar Star "watered" ribbon is not as "watered" though. x5 or x6 seems the most useful length for a ribbon row/scarf but as she does these on order, you can have whatever you like. She has done just one ribbon scarves by orienting it length-wise IE just a CD. By no means a commercial enterprise for her; just her doing what she likes and offering others something they may like/want through that......at a small profit. Permanent Disability from VAC can be a bit boring sometimes. :remember PM for terms. Mods please delete if deemed in-appropriate. regards Darrell Attachment 85625 Attachment 85626 Attachment 85627 Attachment 85628 Attachment 85629 |

Hi Terry
I'll point out the ribbons to her and see what she says. Already I see the Kuwaiti Kuwait Liberation medal ribbon being a challenge due to that black bit in the ribbon. http://www.thinribbons.com/image/cac...66-500x500.png Let me get back you. Ya know, that'd be about an 8-10 foot scarf! Don't run the snowblower when wearing!! regards Darrell |
Great initiative ! I see nothing wrong with this post. I will add: Thank you for your service to Canada !

Hi Terry
You're good to go. PM inbound. Meant to say that she'd welcome Australian and NZ orders too. Nothing "squirrely" there is there? regards Darrell |

Hi
My mistake. I, a non-crochet-er, have been informed by a higher power than me that they are not wool but rather acrylic. Definitely not Tibetan yak wool or any of the sort. Still hand made though!!! These scarves are delicate wash and lay flat to dry. regards Darrell |
Available in Alpaca?

That looks like...
the Battle of Britain bar scarf that I ordered??? Nice work. CHeers

Darrell, Can you explain "Squirrely" to us foreigners?

Why, do you have one? :D Hi Rob F We're pleased that you like them. Show us the other one, I forgot to get a pic. Hi Lynn Squirrely to me is excited, irregular and/or all over the place. In this instance, in physical construct. Works for people and things too. No negative connotations at all, I assure you. Just a relation to my frau making Australian scarves. I make no claim to it being a regional or national term either but rather just my own for a thing in my head. Sometimes I even make up words!! And yes, I see that a few ribbons in your National Honours chart are indeed "squirrely" (again, nothing bad there. Move along). Your Order of Australia, Star of Gallantry, Medal for Gallantry, Ambulance Service Medal, Emergency Services Medal, and Police Overseas Service Medal may be a challenge her to reproduce in the discussed medium. She's game to try if required though. :kangaroo regards Darrell |
A small box arrived earlier this week, with a 6-7 foot long handmade scarf. The five ribbons I chose are well represented. A sixth one is an EBGO (Every Bastard's Got One).
One of my irreverent friends said it looks like a Dr Who scarf, but I will make sure my son has this in his Christmas pile to give to his dad. |
Hi Terry
Glad it arrived in good order and that you like it. :) She does make Dr Who Scarves too!! I have teenagers!! :D regards Darrell |
Hi All
