Restorer find gold bullion in T55/69 gas tank.

Lynn Eades 10-04-17 11:52

I must be a socialist. Why couldn't it have been some broken down bloke whose wife wants a new kitchen, but can't because he's wasting the money on that bloody useless tank!

Private_collector 10-04-17 12:41

Oh, what a jammy bastard!

150 military vehicles. Now he's got enough to buy another few.

Robert Bergeron 10-04-17 22:28

The crew of that tank must of been one of those that raided Saddam's cavern when he ran. Or maybe Kaddafi's ?

Those tanks were pretty popular in those areas..

They must of thought that was the safest place to put some of it.. But where is the rest I ask ??

charlie fitton 11-04-17 13:10

I imagine a lot of folks are running around sandy battlefields peeking into fuel tanks as we speak...

Just so happens I have a Chinese Type 69 tank in my backyard...was captured by the British 16th Air Assault Brigade during the last Gulf War. The former owners were the Iraqi 51st Mechanized Division who were decimated outside Basra by the British Airborne. The Brits took the tank home with them as a trophy and it sat guard duty outside their base at Colchester Garrison until it was disposed of in favor of a WW2 vintage DC3, a monument they felt more appropriate of their airborne heritage. The tank kicked around various spots in the UK until we purchased it and had it shipped to Vancouver via the Port of Tacoma Washington.

I awoke yesterday to read the story on HMVF and came to the resolution that there is a high likelihood I am also now a multi-millionaire! Now just need to cut her open, retrieve my gold bullion and finally prove to the better half I was actually right about something...Tanks Are a Great Investment!

Wayne Hingley 12-04-17 13:59

The odds are in your favour John. Good luck! Maybe your better half will never find out...

Friends,

Saw on TV last night that it was ex- Iraqi , captured by the Brits, brought back to England and finally disposed to the public . They found a total of 6 or 8 of the gold bars worth an estimated $3 M ... Lucky bastard !

So it is an April Fools Day joke gone viral ?

Even CTV News reported it last night ...

So much for journalism, eh?

No time for research, just retweet the message! ;)

Maybe April fools but you do find some strange stuff, my first champ was full of .22 live bullets and "unused" condoms, I emphasise "unused" as the packets where spread out amongst the crap that filled every nook & cranny even in the bottom drive shaft cavity which was filled with mud. I am not sure what kind of person owned it but I wouldn't like to meet him/her. Too much info but true.
