As a matter of interest, I was looking at the photos on the auctioneers website and the Coles crane in particular. It is very similar to the Coles Mk5 Bridging crane operated by the Royal Engineers back in the 70's, except this one has fairings around the rear wheels, windows in rear of cab and other minor things. Is this a piece of ex-Australian military equipment? In British service it was the last of the old type diesel/electric cranes before the hydraulic types came in to service. They were powered by an AEC AV760 engine and Militant running gear.

Is anyone going along to the auction? It will be interesting to see a report of what went on and prices achieved, if anyone does go.

regards, Richard

There has been a lot of promotion of the Clearing Sale so there are bound to be a number of people attending.

Hopefully those attending the sale who are coming to Corowa next year will have a spare $15 to pay for their entry. Take your entry form and hand it over at the sale and then you can save a stamp. I will have some spare forms and KVE newsletters so feel free to ask me if you forget. Richard Farrant in the UK in entering all the entries for Corowa so hopefully I can collect a few and will scan and email to Richard.

I am also looking forward to catching up with mum and dad who will also be there.

There is viewing on the Friday from 1 to 4pm.

How are people staying overnight if they are?
I see there is a pub with accommodation.
Better than the car with the seat reclined all the way back.

Jan Thompson 13-10-11 11:13

Who thinks they purchased the best bargains?

I know Colin Jones was very happy with his purchase. Maybe he could share his story.

Ryan 27-10-11 08:38

bargins

My mum was happy with her ceramic chook!
And even though I came home empty handed I was happy to see money in my wallet at the end of the day. A days entertainment. :)

Hey Anthony, you should have told me before hand! Probably walked straight past each other.

Jan Thompson 27-10-11 08:45

I was amazed by the number of MLU people in attendance and very few indicated they would be attending. People came from far and wide. I know of 3 from New Zealand, one from Darwin, another from Queensland and one from Western Australia along with numerous people from South Australia, New South Wales and Victoria.

Jesus!

...and, what did you buy??

Luke R 27-10-11 10:13

Not much ryan, only a few small bits and pieces.

colin jones 27-10-11 10:37

Hi All, I did get a few stuart parts and the Kieser which just happened to be a M816 wrecker and I just happened to have a Wrecker body that needed a truck. I think we should have had name tags as we must have walked past each other not knowing who we are. Something tells me the best bargains we long gone. Never the less I certainly was happy and had a few good laughs and ale's at the pub the night before.
Colin.

Were you bidding on the grant mantlet? But were outbid.

Was going to say hello to you Colin, but then I saw another bloke who I thought may have been you as well. Confused I sort the refuge of a creamy soda bottle and let it be. :thup2:

oh yeah, Colin, did you get the wrecker manuals that were for sale on the book tables?

anthony urek 27-10-11 11:25

NAME TAGS!!!! :note:
Thats what was needed. Good one Colin, sorry I missed you too! Did you buy the carrier? If not who did?

Jan Thompson 27-10-11 11:35

Hopefully there will be another MLU dinner at Corowa probably on the Thursday night. (I think Ian Williams will be organising this again.) The social functions always help people meet others they may have heard about on forums such as MLU.
We will also plan to have another MLU photo at 12.30pm on Saturday 17th March at the Corowa Airport.
