17pdr Sexton
Seeing as the 17pdr was mounted Ad Hoc on a 25pdr mounting.
Would fitting a 17pdr in Sexton be possible? if so do you a war role for such vehicle? |
ramtank2, welcome to this forum! We are used to using real names here, so could you please introduce yourself?
Re. your question, see 17-pdr Sexton / 3 inch Ram SP. Hope this helps, Hanno |
Thanks Hanno I also understand that the Netherlands used Rams after ww2 with bored out 6pdr, is there any examples of this model in any Dutch army musemes?

17 Pdr Sexton
It probably was feasible. Paper studies were carried out in late 1942/ early 1943 on fitting either a 17pdr or 3.7 inch AA gun to what was then called the 25-pounder Ram SP for use as a tank destroyer. The idea unfortunately died for lack of interest.
The history of the project will be found in my forthcoming "Secret Weapons of the Canadian Army" (www.servicepub.ca). Roger |
