Fan and mounting bracket for an M3A1 White Scout Car.

On ANZAC Day we had a slight mishap with my well traveled White Scout Car.

Attachment 107630

My son, Geoff was taking it to a town about 110km away for their ANZAC Day service when it threw a blade, broke the mount and put the fan into the radiator.

This is what was left of the mount, no sign of any weakness, just a nice bright snap.

Attachment 107632

The radiator is a bit knocked about as well.

I recovered the poor old girl with my 1977 Leyland Super Comet.

Does anyone out there have a New Old Stock Fan? I will settle for a good second hand one if it shows no sign of stress. Have a look at the fan photo and you will see stress cracks on 5 of the 6 blades.

Of course, I need a mounting bracket and a radiator so over to you all, so who has the bits I need?

Thanks Rick

Hi Rick

Have you found the cast mounting bracket?

lynx42 15-06-19 13:18

Hi Darryl,
Unfortunately I have not yet located any of the parts required. I might add that apart from telling the story, I haven't had a lot of time to worry about it as on the 29th April I had yet another major back operation and with rehab was in hospital for 6 weeks. Not long home but am a lot better pain wise.
Regards Rick.

Hi Rick
I was wondering if Studebaker parts would do the job? Although the US6 runs a single belt and the fan has four blades instead of six it is the same engine and both vehicles have a similar unladen weight.
With the truck weighing a couple of ton more than the White when loaded it would seem that the US6 components should provide adequate cooling.
The major problem will be the radiator.
Good to hear that they have been able to improve your back.

Dave

Hi Rick,

Bugger about your back. Get hold of Joop Staman. I have just been there and he has the mounting brackets. If you get stuck, let me know as I have to get some other stuff from him so will be talking to him again.

Hi Dave,

Apologies, I saw your email but neglected to reply.

Bumping this one as no luck as yet.
Thanks Rick.

Like Darryl says, try Joop Staman here in the Netherlands. His website is https://staman.nl/

Hanno
