Groesbeek War Cemetary, Holland

Just returned from a commemoration tour of Arnhem and surrounding area, representing 1st Border Regt (British Airborne). We called at Groesbeek Cemetary near Nimegan, which is a large, mainly Canadian War Cemetary and laid a wreath at the memorial to the Canadians who made the ultimate sacrifice. We also met some veteran CANLOAN officers in the Arnhem area who had served with British Regts. I know it is a long way for veterans to travel and we felt the Canadians deserved recogition of their sacrifice.

Thank you...

We appreciate your gesture, Barry. :remember

I'm also glad you got to meet the Canloan officers; there were only 673 of them total, but they did His Majesty yeoman service with the British Army, suffering an overall casualty rate of 75%, with 128 KIA or DOW. All who signed up for the program were volunteers. Fine gentlemen indeed. :salute:
