An MLU-wide invitation to join us at Odessa near Kingston, Ontario on Aug 20/21 - see details attached.
Let's have an even bigger display than last year! Sherman tank this year! Camping with showers and secure parking available on-site. In conjunction with Homesteaders farm and livestock fair. Arrival any time after noon on the Friday. Re-enactors very welcome. Complimentary hamburger and hot dog BBQ Saturday evening for crews and re-enactors. Please let me know* which day you will arrive, how many MV's and how many in your team so we can plan food etc. Sorry but no bangs because of the livestock on site!! * Contact me by e-mail, PM or on this thread. |
This a great event with vehicles from all over Ontario and Quebec. I'm not sure on numbers but I don't see why there can't be 60 plus vehicles there this year. SFRC will be bring the complete collection to this one...including the Gama Goat.

Just a friendly bump to remind people of the event.

Many people in the area have vehicles.
If all the people in the area that have a vehicle bring them this could be a great year. My F8 and possibly ferret will be there.
|
This event in my opinion is the type of event that is needed for this part of Ontario ! Anyone that drives their Jeep or army truck knows what a long drive is. It's also hard to have an event that only has army trucks and jeeps. So if you live near by I strongly encourage anyone that is able to bring their MV out to this show. Because it's not just an MV event there will be much for your family to see and do. It's good for our hobby for us to support one another. I hope to see you their.

The gang from Montreal will be there again, this time with a more friends. So looking forward to it!
|
Will be there......
.....my cab 11 will finally come out of the closet!!!!!!!
Cheers |
Good stuff guys!
Great stuff, guys - keep 'em rolling!
One idea is to have planned drive-by's and photo ops in the adjacent field maybe by period e.g. WW2, cold war, NATO etc. Always good to have some off-road driving! Keep those weather gods happy! |
Hi David
Is it required to pre register for camping for the weekend? I may or may not be there depending on work schedule but I am supposed to be. Working at the TransCanada Generating Station in Bath... |
Camping on site is very relaxed, pitch a tent by the vehicles. No camp fires though.
Chris you have to watch out for those summer flu's :ergh: they always get in the way of work plans. |
Al I understand... :)
|
No need to register
Hi Chris
Al said it all! Especially no camp fires this year - dry as tinder everywhere! Hope to see you there - any chance of a vehicle with you? |
Hi David
Unfortunately no vehicle as I am only in the area due to work reasons. Maybe next year I can bring my mules |
Way in to Bivouac
Chris and all attendees
At the entrance to Bivouac, tell the Homesteader gate folk that you are headed for Bivouac and they won't charge you the $5 admission! Come as directed and park in our zone (signed). Those with MV's, unless members of FMVA, we ask a $10 fee to set against our insurance costs. See you all there. David |
Just another request; please try to have some sort of poster or notice that describes your vehicle - at least date, make and model. Part of our mission is education, especially for the younger folks. You all know that the general public knows virtually nothing about our vehicles - or Canadian military history for that matter.

reminder
This event is fast approaching. Make your plans to attend.

Can't wait! This will be the only Ontario show that I will make this year due to scheduling issues. Will be nice to meet with some of the E Ontario and Quebec collectors. Sorry, no vehicle in tow but there's always next year.
Al, you better lock up your M274RR :thup2: |
The mule is staying home this year. I'll be bringing the Kaiser though.

A Mule gathering would be super cool!
Disappointed that your Mule is staying home :( |

Cool!
That would be great |
Just returned from the Frontenac Bivouac.
Unfortunately I didn't have much time today as I had other MV business along the way to home. (the M38A1 that I bought last year was missing the battery box cover and heater which the previous owner found in his shed and was generous enough to contact me so I could have it and complete the Jeep!) It was great to see some familiar faces and to meet a few new ones. I must say the Show is very nice and I could see it growing very quickly. A neat assortment of vehicles that don't make it to shows in Western Ontario. Kudos, Chris |

Hey, where are the photos? http://i0.wp.com/fijourney.com/wp-co...mule-wagon.jpg |
It seems we got rained on pretty good last night and today but I'd like to thank everyone that showed up yesterday. The weather was great and many of us did a lot of driving around the property during the day. Including a few military trailers, we had 44 vehicles show up. We would have topped 50 but a few had mechanical issues prior to coming.
A big thanks to the Ontario Regiment Museum for the use of BART for the weekend as well as Frank and crew for manning it. |
Wonderful time in Odessa....
Nice to see all the familiar faces.....warm but a gentle breeze blowing across the field all day.
Congrats to the Frontenac boyz for putting on such an event. Let's see if we can break 50 for next year. Bob C |
