Mystery Trailer ID

G'day Everyone

I hope someone on this forum can ID this trailer. I'm not sure that it is military but it certainly looks the part. From the looks of it, a water/fuel tank was originally fitted.

Is it possibly the remains of a water trailer?

The shape of the front and rear crossmembers would suggest that possibility.

Paul.

You have most of what looks to be an M149 400 gallon Water trailer commonly referred to as a Water Buffalo. The trailer in the pics is missing the fenders, pintle hook, dolly wheel, and tank.

There are some photos of the M149 here:-

I don't think it is a Water Buffalo M-149 as the track seems too narrow and there are too many wheel studs. Rick

The rims , stud pattern and hub look like the front end on my 1975 C60 Chev custom delux 6 ton truck.

Good eye Rick, you're right, all the U.S. water trailers had 6 wheel studs. I wonder if this was cobbled together from something else. There is some stencilling on the frame rail, UP 22? Doesn't mean anything to me right off the top of my head.

Thanks for your imput guys.
I will have to go back and have a closer look to see if I can spot any 'military evidence'.
