Archie Marshall

Archie Marshall imported a number of military vehicle types post war. He was located in Maddington, Perth Western Australia.

Many years ago, probably late 70's early 80's, I took these photos of an Albion Artillery Tractor and a Staghound.
At this time, Archie had sold off all of his vehicles except for the Albion and Staghound which was on display out front of the yard.

The Albion is still extant around Perth somewhere (third photo) but I do not know what happened to the Staghound. Anyone out there know?

Tommy,

No idea where the Stag ended up though I suppose there's an outside chance it's at the Army Museum in Fremantle, but the gun barrel on the Archie Stag looks a bit suss. About twice as long as it should be and around the size (calibre) of a French 75 !

You could be right Jack. I will ask next time I'm down at the museum.
The 'main gun' in the Staghound is a length of water pipe as I remember asking about it all those years ago. Like all armoured vehicles over here in the west, the main guns were removed prior to sale and disposed of. In truth, I don't think the army trusted us 'western rednecks'. :nono:

Tommy,

I'm told by a friend that the Stag found a home at the Boulder War Museum.

i remember taking this B&W pic of it, a few years ago.

I found this 'sticker' on the front of an old derelict Austin Champ.

It says - Archie Marshall.

Archie must have had these stickers placed on the Champs. A bit like the 'car yard' stickers you see on all new cars.

Last time I heard, it was out at the Sports Aircraft Associations airfield in Serpentine WA. See third photo.
