F15 pipes
 

Has anyone been through the exercise of measuring all the brake, fuel and vacuum pipes for a F15?

I've overhauled all the hydraulics for the F15 project and am ready for these components.

Actually I'm being a bit lazy as I've kept patterns but if someone has done the exercise it will save some time.

As a matter of interest, how many people who have done restorations have actually replaced these parts?

Rob and I have done full systems on ours ( HUP and cab 11 Chev)

We used coils of brakelines and some SS lines. Best bet is to use a coat hanger or straight steel welding rods..... bend to shape and use as a guide.

With waste count on using a full 25 foot spool of brake line.......

Measure five times... cut once..... and don't forget to get the ferrul in before you flare.......... otherwise your vocabulary will improve........

Fuel lines were the same size as the brake line..... used Jeep short rubber lines for mounting to the fuel pump and the 3 way valve......

You will need 3/16 lines for the vacuum lines to the dizzy and regular 1/4 lines for the wipers.

Also used synthetic brake fluid in mine as I used new wheel cylinders and rebuilt master....

Hi Keith,

When I put brake lines on my F15A I used the various lengths as described in the Ford Illustrated Army Parts Catalogue 1940-1942

for example: *C010Q 2268

Pipe-right rear brake-assembly, when stock depleted, supply 91A-2269. (Lengh tubing should be cut is 37-3/16")

If you need more specifics just let me know and I will send all the various dimensions.

Hi Keith,i was lucky to have all my pipes intact and just copied them one by one,did have trouble though with the brake pipes leaking at flanges for a while,ok now with extra tightening.
I also fitted new flange nuts everywhere as well.

All the Brake lines on my F15A are all still attached but i will be taking them of this weekend if your interested in getting measurments or borrowing them to get copies made . Let me know if you want them .

G'day All, I don't own any CMP's etc, but I do have a fleet of ex mil Land Rovers, and all the brake pipes have been replaced on all of them, including new tube nuts etc, I actaully enjoy the mental challenge to make the bends as near as possible to the original units, and yes your vocabulary does expand if you stuff up :mad: :mad: have a few of these :cheers: and get back into it LOL cheers Dennis :sheep:
