Could it be a Gun Tractor
 

I have purchased a F60L last weekend and while looking around the yards spotted this shorty cab and chassis. Under the bonnet GT1943, the chassis is a short wheel base that has a rivited outer member under the cab extend toward the front of the rear springs. Another gruesome snippet is that the vehicle was bought direct from the army in early 1946 by the current owners family with the current cab. The cab drivers seat was soaked with blood and bullet hole entry is clearly visible behind the seat.
The vehicle was fitted with a winch and rub marks can be seen in the chassis from use in the logging industry the winch was removed to be used on another vehicle as this one fell into disrepair.

Bonnet

Rusty to me the chassis is too long for a gun tractor and it looks like it is either a 60S or 60L fitted with a winch. A lot of vehicles were fitted with an extended wide chassi piece rivited to the original chassis between the springs to strengthen the chassis for heavier workloads.

The bonnet may have been replaced with a spare from a guntractor originally. :)

PS on second looks it may be a Series 1?, judging by the shape of the windscreen..

Well Yes so it was lucky I called the Bros who know all about them when I found that one. I think it has gone to a good home as it takes "special" people to love a thing with no practical use.:blink:

I think Cliff has hit the nail on the head. The other crucial picture (if you have it, Mark) is of the left-hand interior to see whether there was a 'glovebox' present.

They certainly managed to get their money worth out of the trucks in sawmills didn't they.

Not all GT are 101", So did #6 GT'S have a glove box? Could it be a #6?
