Not Tim Hortons ...

I guess there was a reason why I could never stomach Starbucks..Now I know why...

Sent: Tuesday, December 18, 2007 11:15 PM
Subject: Starbucks

Recently Marines in Iraq wrote to Starbucks because they wanted to
let them know how much they liked their coffees and to request that they Send some of it to the troops there. Starbucks replied, telling the Marines thank you for their support of their business, but that Starbucks does not support the war, nor anyone in it, and that they would not send the troops their brand of coffee.

So as not to offend Starbucks, maybe we should not support them by buying any of their products! I feel we should get this out in the open. I know this war might not be very popular with some folks, but that doesn't mean we don't support the boys on the ground fighting street -to-street and house-to-house.

If you feel the same as I do then pass this along, or you can
discard it and no one will never know.
;
Thanks very much for your support. I know you'll all be there again when I deploy once more.

Semper Fidelis.
Sgt. Howard C. Wright
1st Force Recon Co
1st Plt PLT

PLEASE DON'T DELETE THIS . . ALLOW IT TO BE
PASSED TO ALL IN MEMORY OF ALL THE TROOPS WHO HAVE DIED SO THAT WE MAY HAVE
THE RIGHT TO CHOOSE TO SUPPORT THEM OR NOT! ! !

Hi folks,

After reading this story and immediately feeling choked up about it, wanted to learn whatever else I could about it, I googled .... what I found was a whole bunch of hits about this, none from any official media/news sites came up for me, but many from various other types of sites and blogs about the story and boycotting/stopping boycotting Starbucks ...

What's being said is that, basically, Sargent Wright and Starbucks had further contact with each other and end result, he basically wrote a letter of apology to Starbucks for jumping the gun before checking facts ... Some of these sites show "copies" of letters (emails) exchanged between Starbucks and Sargent Wright to try and clear things up (are they legitimate letters?)

I dunno ... I found no official big media/news stories through googling, to find out more to verify/deny. I don't recall hearing any stories about Starbucks boycott :confused

Anyone else know anything for sure about this?

:coffee :confused

I don't drink their stuff anyway. Why would I when Timmy's has already shown their support for the CF?
PS. Does anyone have a spare Arid CadPat Tim Horton's cup?

Hi

Got this from a mate who snapped it as I was leaving Theatre last spring for a couple of weeks leave.

In Kandahar, the Americans were ga-ga for the "Ice Cappachino" and the Brits lined up long for the "French Vanilla Cappachino". So much so that I was forced to recently x2 tins of the stuff to RAF Lossiemouth. Shall I ask for scones in return??

Cdns were mainly a "Double-Double" crowd!! :D

regards
Darrell

Now who's a happy boy, eh? :D (great pic !!!)

Wish you had said something earlier. I brought back about 6 of the Arid Roll-up-the-rim ones (like I'm holding above) and gave one to each local TH's here in Moncton. All still have them in their display cabinets!! I kept only one for myself. That and my Arid TH ballcap which generates a lot of interest.

Sorry, chum.

Have you checked eBay? Some of the 2nd Bn RCR guys were selling them there a few months ago.

regards
Darrell

Hi Geoff

Let's just say that my fork was a better companion than that rifle!! :D

I've since managed to shed a few pounds though that's mainly due to the TB I brought back. :(

They don't call it consumption for nothing!!

No worrys though, I'm on the Meds and should have it beat by September (if my Liver doesn't explode first) according to the Specialist!!

Now stop bugging me, I'm old. :D

Tsk tsk... I realise that you guys pretend to laugh at the Gentlemen of the Infantry, but you're really just hiding your admiration for us real soldiers. That's ok, Darrell; we understand, because we are gentlemen. ;)

Well, put it this way - "lean & mean" isn't exactly in your lexicon, is it? :D :p

Cheerfully,

That's because bladder control goes when you get to your age, erm, level of wisdom. :p

Sean

ps: I just saw a commercial that says they have meds to help with that "issue" now.

Darrell Zinck 21-01-08 23:44

Hiya

Lean?.......perhaps not.

Mean?.............without a doubt but it's selective!!

Let's just say if you poke a bear with a stick............well, you know the rest. :nono:

Yes, even a fattened-up, hibernating one. :o

"So I says "Does this body armour and tac vest makle me look fat?" and Geoff suddenly smells of urine and needs things repeated in a louder voice";)

Sean

Are you a "native"? You might have a discrimination case against 9-er. :D

More like Naive! In fact I am related to Louis Riel, but with 11 generations between us, we weren't close.
No point in suing Geoff, what the hell do I need with 1/2 a box of depends and a 1971 Ford Pinto. :p

Oh boy, I'm surely trembling now!!

Sure you can't make it to Ottawa on the 16th? This could get really interesting in a hurry... :D

Darrell Zinck 22-01-08 02:43

Hi Geoff

Thanks for the invite but I'm afraid I can't make it........I got this....umm..........thing......... to do that day.......and erm.....umm........my wife won't let me......

How about 07 June 2008? I'll be at the big ta-doo on the Hill. It'll be a fine day to be a Dragoon then (oh, and some Infantry unit of moderate distinction will be there too)

7 June 2008 – 125th RCD/RCR Anniversary

· Joint RCD / Royal Canadian Regiment Parade, Parliament Hill, Ottawa, Ontario

· Two 100 man guards in scarlets, with Guidon and Colour Parties

· Post parade displays on Parliament Hill followed by an all ranks reception at Cartier Drill Hall, Ottawa, Ontario

· All ranks Gala Ball, Museum of Civilization, Hull, Quebec

· Discounted Room Rates at The Four Points by Sheraton Hotel & Conference Centre Gatineau-Ottawa

http://www.dragoons.ca/125thAnnivers...rofevents.html

If you do make it, the only things I'll have for you is a warm handshake and an offer of a cold beer. I would not be so bold as to mess with Niner. Mess with your head, perhaps but all kidding aside, I love you, man!! :note:

regards
Darrell :giveup
