Flathead crankshaft pully found!!!!

Hi all,

I am in need of a crankshaft pully for my Ford flathead C69A
'42-48 engine. Can anyone close help me out? Name your price.

I have been putting a lot of effort into this engine....a lot of 4 steps forward and 2 or 3 steps back. :bang: It has been quite the adventure. :ergh: ..I will pass on a few anecdotes after I get it running.

cheers

Mike, are you using the military pulley setup or something else? The military ones are entirely different to the rest of them.
Wow, this is my 700th post!

Pully or gear?

If it's a gear, there's probably one in the garage.

I needed a crankshaft pulley for my Ford T-16 Flathead engine. Brian Asbury had them for $44. Don't know for sure if it is the same or not but I'd be surprised if Ford was making a special pulley for each of their 42-44 model miltary flathead engines.

Maybe someone else on the list knows?

Pulley set-up

confiquration of the engine is as follows:

the water pumps are dual pullied,

the fan is attached to the pulley on the generator,

the distributor is a crab type.

I have a 49-53 pulley but the neck of it places it too far forward of the water pump and generator pulley.

hope this helps

cheers

Mike Timoshyk.....cletrac 700 posts...wow

This is the military setup. The two wide belts go around all four double pulleys. The fourth pulleys are on the generator and the fan bolts onto the pulleys. On the civvy trucks and cars there were several different setups and different width belts depending on year and application.

MY T-16 engine pulleys, crank, distributor and water pumps look the same as the photo Cletrac posted on this message thread. So if your engine is the same as his, then the crank pulley should work and Asbury is in Canada like you.

We call that type distributor a "divers helmet" type and the crab type is a single distributor cap on the outer end of the unit. It still has four wires on each side but the divers type uses two different caps.

pulley set up

Hi,

Thanks for the foto....that is the set up I am dealing with. The two fan belts drive the water pumps and generator from the crank pulley.

I will give Brian Asbury a call and hope he has one.

Cheers all.....

The Diver's Helmet Distributor has two SEPARATE caps, but both L and R are the same and are interchangeable. They have an inner cap and an outer cover.

settle the dust

Yes Ian we done reasonable well we had 220 points over five days it sure was a relief from the heat from the previous week.
Once Tony got into the shed amongst all the stuff his half hour visit turned into a long time as once you get into these sheds you lose track of time too easily, anyway it worked out well to get the stuff down to Keith.

Sheds

Yes thats the place were Max heads to relax on a hot day while Cathy thinks his out working hard. I like Max's sheds a lot except for one little creature comfort, there are no lights you have to find your parts by touch.
