Australian mortar carriers

Hi all.

Trying to find some details on the dedicated 3" Australian mortar carrier.

The dedicated carrier had the mortar position fixed in the back of the carrier and the engine was up next to the driver - very similar setup to the 2pd anti tack gun carrier.

Photo of one similar at http://mailer.fsu.edu/~akirk/tanks/a...rCarrier-1.jpg

Anyone able to help with this. Im looking particularly as to how the mortar turntable looked and worked.

I know Mike Cecil did some work on the mortar carrier but i am looking for extra.

Thanks again all,
Glenn.

Glenn;

Australian 3-inch Mortar Carrier:

- the mortar was mounted on a revolving turntable fixed to the floor of the compartment, and could be traversed through 360-degrees

Rear view of the carrier showing the tarpaulin cover stowed across the rear and the position of the pioneer tools and tow chain.

Cheers :)

Mortar or Tank Attack?

See under Forum > Armour > Swords to plowsheers. Is that a cut down mortar carrier or the tank attack which I believe used the same configuration? Or is my eyesight playing up!
