Under the silt
This is the inside of the C60L I found earlier in the year (and visited with Jif). After removing the doors from the hinge ends I was able to have a look around the interior. Jif found the experience rather shocking. (I'll let him explain).
http://www.oldcmp.net/Images/kgee/C60L/Jan_08/int_2.jpg She's suffered a bit from spending several years in a gully stabilising the earth - being completely inundated whenever there is a storm. Both doors have a lot of silt built up in them which is a pity as it has held moisture and rusted them in several places. I had to drill out many of the bolts as they were whitworth heads and I didn't have a spanner to fit. http://www.oldcmp.net/Images/kgee/C60L/Jan_08/bolt.jpg More pics here. |
Thanks for sharing pics, Keith.
Great to see there are still CMPs left to "harvest" around your place. Cheers, Hanno |

You know, there's something infinitely sad about seeing these old girls in this shape; I'm thinking about how long they served after the war, and imagining the last time she rolled under her own steam... yet now slowly being reclaimed by the earth from whence she came in her base elements... |

This time I had reinforcement in the form of Euan and the cargo trailer, departing Melbourne 0615 arriving onsite 0930 and departing fully loaded around 1145. http://www.oldcmp.net/Images/kgee/C6...2/DSC_0006.jpg More pics here. Today's job will be to separate the halves of the cab, remove the tin roof and begin to fill the many holes used to secure the tin with weld. |
