GS Box Canvas Tarp

Anyone out there have the dimensions/pattern for the canvas tarp for the 15CWT GS Box?

Which model of box are we dealing with? I assume you must mean the one that fits flat on the top of the box and not the style with the hoops.

Canvas tarp

My appologies for not being clear enough on my initial description.

I have a 2C1 box with bows. I am looking for the tarp dimensions for fitting with bows. I have reviewed the search engine and have come up with good pictures. I could go to all the effort to measure based upon the pics but I am sure someone else has already "invented the wheel".

Any input is appreciated. Thanks Dave.

cheers

Mike,

See Colin's CMP webpage for a picture showing all types of bodies for CMP 15-cwt trucks, copied from Bill Gregg's "Canadian Military Vehicle Profile Series" Volume 2.

Steve Guthrie posted the dimensions of the 2C1 body in the thread C15 Box Weight. Steve got them from the AEDB Vehicle Development Record; this publication might have drawings as well.

I have neither publication, but I know some forum members have them so they might be able to help.

Good luck!

Talk to Jon.....

Jon Skagfeld has an original imaculate 1945 tarp on his C15a......

..... he may have already taken the measurements........

if he has not yet done so it could be a nice project to document the size.....location of grommelets holes and recording the official marking on the inside of the tarp.....

How about it Jon....?

Boob
PS...... how similar would the tarp be for a 2B1....????

Bob: Thanks for the kind observation.

Mike: My tarp fits over a 2J1 GS box avec hoops...I don't think that there's any difference with a 2B1.

I haven't measured it, but it is in winter storage in my workshop.

Do you want me to unpack it and take measurements, or do you want to slide up here, spend a day or so, and measure it yourself? :salute:  :drunk: :teach:

Invite to "measure-up"

Hi Jon,

Thanks for the invite. I will take you up on it. I would certainly enjoy taking the measurements and stiching pattern for others to utilize.

Will talk off-line via PM

Cheers

Mike

Well, not much anyway.
According to the books - see my post above - the 2B1 box is 82-1/8" long, while the 2J1 is 80-3/8" long. Mike has a 2C1 which is 82-9/16" long.

Hanno (mine is even longer :D )

Dammit, I knew I should have checked "Canadian Military Vehicle Profile Series" before I posted! :note: :o
