INterpretting part numbers

Hi all,

I`m after soe info on how to interpret commonwealth part numbers.

I am for ever seeing parts listed with a LV6 or LV7 part number and then other numbers which are not familiar to me- ie: jeep parts which i am familiar with, wearing a LV part number which makes no sense to me.

Is there a table, website or book i can obtain/try to find which will help me ID parts like this?

I often see things but am hesitant to buy it when all boxed up and unseen as i do not know if it is correct for my vehicles.

Thanks,
Ian.

Hi Ian,

A friend of mine, Clive Elliott, wrote an article on this for the MVT magazine, Windscreen. It has subsequently been put on the HMVF Forum website;
www.hmvf.co.uk/pdf/EarlyArmyPartnos.pdf

This should explain it easily.

Thankyou, thankyou, thankyou!

I could see the light at the end of the tunnel in the quick flick through i just had of it!

I`ll print it out and put it in the swapmeet info bag.

Thanks again,

Ian.
