Australian farmers halftrack
Hello,
Over on the Military Photos website somebody has posted a photograph taken presumably in a paddock in Australia of what appears to be a farmers home grown halftrack. http://img206.imageshack.us/img206/8...lftrackow6.jpg http://www.militaryphotos.net/forums...d.php?t=127998 It looks like a 1930's car or light truck mated with parts from an Australian pattern carrier. Does anyone know where it is, or who built it? Regards Nick Balmer |
G'day All, , It's definatley something made up on the farm from leftovers, carrier tracks etc at the rear ?? up front, but I liked the story by the 13y.o member (in the link) of a paddock up the Dandenongs, Victoria, Aust with lots of tanks, trucks and hundreds of Bren Gun carriers, I can see the stampede now LOL :D :rolleyes the Mexicans will need a lot of these blokes :no4: :no4: , anyway I'm sure someone here will know of it, cheers Dennis :sheep:

Hi All
I thought it may have been a Strickland conversion but it appears to be an attempt, possibly successfull to convert a Carrier into a farm vehicle. Bear in mind that after the war tractors were hard to get as opposed to cheap Carriers. All farmers did was to cut off the top armour, as in this case, modify the steering and presto! a tractor of type. What did highly amuse me though were the "intelligent" guesses that were posted on that forum. The only one with brains was the Adelaide based poster, but then what can you expect. :D Bob |
Sounds a bit like John Bellfields back yard to me. Rick
