Thornycroft Amazon
1 Attachment(s)
Hi
I recently bought, together with some friends, A long wheelbase, diesel engine, Thornycroft Amazon. It had been used, up to the sixties, by the Royal Danish air force, and then sold at an auction. I was wondering if any one had some manuals ore spares for it. Ore knowledge of where to get them.? Regards Niels |

You do not say what type of body, if any, that your project has. I have found some references to Amazons as below. The RAF Museum in Hendon has a copy of a Makers Instruction Book for Amazons. They might be able to tell you where to get a copy. http://navigator.rafmuseum.org/resul...bject&id=24191 Another possibility for information may be the REME Museum in Arborfield, Berkshire. I found a mention of the Yorkshire Air Museum having one, but it seem to be stated as an AEC! http://www.yorkshireairmuseum.co.uk/..._info.asp?id=4 Good Luck in your restoration project. Paul. |
Thank you
It is actually not that much of a project. It is in great original condition, and complete, it had been standing in door the last 40 years. Of cause there is a bit of rust, but its running, we haven’t tried the crane yet, but it might need some attention It has the 5 ton Coles crane, and a flat bed between the cap and crane. It is the long version of the one at they have at the Yorkshire Air Museum. Regards Niels |
You never know but if you contact the RAF Museum, with the offer of a donation, they just might let you have copies of pages that you need.
Just a thought (I'll have to stop this thinking - makes my "head" hurt) Paul. |
Thanks I will try

Hi Niels
That must be the model WF8/NR6/Coles MkVII series 7 model it originally had a petrol engine so presume either the airforce or buyer installed the diesel. I have a couple of photos somewhere and will post them when i find them if that helps cheers Les |

Les, The WF8/NR6 was fitted with a diesel engine ( NR6 diesel ). It was the WF8/AC6 that was petrol. |
yes the diesel engine, is the original.
I think there was made about 400 of the diesel version. regards Niels |
