F15A Cab 13 exhaust components
Hi Folks,
I am now getting down to the nitty gritty.....exhaust stuff. For the North American types. Have you had any difficulty ordering parts to fit the CMP? I imadgine there will be a need for some custom bending. Has anyone gone through this? Any idea of lengths and bends and diameters? cheers Mike Timoshyk Windsor Ontario |
Exhausting subj........
Mike; My manifolds were in crap cond(soft, flakey, broken, cracked, etc). There is an old dude out on Hwy10 near Chipman that has the worlds supply of flathead parts, plus the knowledge built up from years of experience. I went looking for the correct manifolds for my truck and he showed me his collection and told me to paw through the (#s)and find a couple of good ones. found a pair that were as close to NOS as I've seen. For the pipes, took the page from the parts manual to the local muffler shop and spent a Sat morning bending, welding, etc. As for the muffler, found one that looked about right, adequate back pressure - Bingo! Long story short- yep, gotta bend your own pipes.(thinkin' about modding to duals with "cherry-bombs" to get the full effect of the big "Merc"('50 Merc Truck motor) to escape the effing about with the crab distributor).
Cheers, Bill |

Here's those pix I took. The pipes coming off the manifolds are 1.5" diameter and after the wye they're 2" diameter.

Thanks Dave,
Great shots..... :note:  Mike |
Mike, I took my first truck into a muffler shop and had them bend up a custom set for me.
Having said this, I did encounter some original NOS stuff years later that would have been better and probably cheaper. Try Brian Asbury, he may still have some left... |
