This 34 tonne Menin Gate ice sculpture was unveiled on 7 February in Ottawa's Confederation Park during Winterlude 2008.

Menin Gate.
 

I had the privelege of visiting the Menin Gate about 18 months ago, and I must admit it is a humbling experience to see so many names from so many of the Commonwealth countries and states.:remember :salute:

What I did not realise, until my visit, is just how many panels there are with the names. It is only when I went up the steps on either side of the Gate that I saw the panels on each side.

The sculptors have done a brilliant job, and are to be commended for their efforts.
