8 RTR - Egypt 1944
Hi to all -
I recently bought a CD copy of an unidentified Armd Regt in a desert environment. Pics included Valentines & Shermans of a RTR regt. Closer inspection of the Shermans showd names with 'H' and a unique B Sqn symbology, 'square with dot'. I guessed H for 8 RTR which I was able to then confirm with a quick glance at Stuart Hamilton's book 'Armoured Odessy'. He had been B Sqn Ldr at that time, with the tank 'HORNBILL'. A pic also had the same sqn symbology. A few of the pics are attched below...any comments most welcome Roddy |

Harrier, Hornet and Hornbill
Adrian,
You are quite correct. I had Hornbill down on my name database and just copied onto the other names on the post without looking properly at the photos. More haste less speed!!! Thanks for pointing it out. Cheers Kevin :o  |
