Steering Wheel Removal and Replacement ??

		Hi Guys ,
I am trying to remove my old steering wheel from the steering column and i am having a lot of trouble working out the best way to remove it , the steering wheel is stuffed and the horn part in the middle is gone and the centre is a mass of rust . Can any one suggest a method of removal ? and does anyone know where i can get a replacement steering wheel from ? cheers Plushy |

How is the steering wheel fixed to the inner column? Is it a pinch bolt or a centre nut and splines/taper?
If it is a pinch bolt, the judicious use of a wedge in the slot can help free it from the inner column. If it is a centre nut, are there any small holes either side of it that could be used to screw in a set screws or bolts to help break it away from the splines/taper? Paul. |

Paul its hard to tell its a Ford F15A if that helps ? where i expect the nut to be is a mess of rust i have tried scraping all the rust out but havent had much sucess .

		Hi James,
Here is a breakdown of the steering arrangement. Looks like just the nut and a key and keyway for the wheel. Dremel tool to cut the nut? cheers Mike in Windsor.....it's sunny today :D |

It is held by a nut on a spline and keyway. As Mike suggested cut the remains of the nut off using a dremel or similar being careful not to damage the thread at the top of the steering shaft then belt sh*t out of it with a block of wood and a big hammer. :note:
