Priest Kangaroo

I understand that these were somewhat rare so I thought I'd share this picture I recently found on the internet. Priest Kangaroos had a short operational history with the Canadians, August-September 1944 as they were too few and Rams were soon being converted to APCs. The sign in this picture, Sinatra suggests that this was an American operational area...unfortunately I can't make out any unit markings. Did the Yanks use the Priest Kangaroo also? Derek.

Basically, somewhere between 72 and 76 Priests were converted the first week of August and served in the British sectors only into the beginning of October. I remember reading that some 53 were left by September, but we have to ask Bill Miller to confirm that.

Anyway, your road sign is not American; see the "HD" and "49"? It's the Scottish Highland Division operational area in Normandy. You'd have to look up the 'Sinatra' bit, but no doubt it's a sector code. This shot is part of a whole series including some video taken shortly after OPERATION TOTALIZE.

My new job is to coach you to do it yourself. I just finished potty training my three year young daughter, so I'm sure I can teach you to do this. So get going and show me the s#&t when you're finished! :D
