Light recovery Chev
Ok, as you know, my blitz knowledge pales into insignificance compared to some here :note:, so I think it's easier to ask the question than trawl through trying to find answers.
Speaking to somebody on the weekend they mentioned a mate who has a good condition blitz with an original crane to fit to the back for light recovery. Anybody got any info or pics? apparently it's a chev. |
there were several different types of crane or boom fitted for light recovery or breakdown work so you really need a photo of the 'crane' to be sure of which one you are talking about. A lot of 'derrick' and 'breakdown' vehicles were based on the MCP type of vehicle. :)

The Australian Army did have some really nice little wreckers/recovery vehicles built on blitz chassis with dual rear wheels, the front wheels were also changed to the same type as the rear wheels but singles of course. There is a photo in Wheels & Tracks of a couple ,I forget what the story was with them.In the May 1988 Deals on Wheels there is a photo of an AB160 teaspoon tipper converted and fitted with the same type of short little crane,it looks nice to.It's on page 113 just in case you still have your copy of the magazine. The blitzes looked professionally converted well after the war.
