Another new green Canadian toy

Another new green toy was seen in Ottawa recently.
Other than what I can see, I don't know anything about this truck. For example it could be sitting there waiting for delivery to the Canadian Forces or it could be a demo unit sent for the dog and pony circuit in hope of making a sale.
It seems to be based on the International Workstar 7?00 series. I stayed on the public road so I don't know what engine it had, or much about the rear end. From the images attached, you can see that it has tactical type lighting in addition to the standard highway lighting and a hefty (hydraulic?) winch above the bumper. There is also a socket mounted to the bumper (left upper) that might be for slave starting, but is sized closer to a block heater plug.
I was interested to see that they had specified single flotation / "super single" tires all around rather than duals in the rear. It seems that the CMP designers knew something after all. More realistically, from a gearing point of view, it makes it easier to have the same size tire all round.
You can also see the new highway tractor in the background of one of the photos.

I will do some more digging to see whether I can find more "public" information on this truck.

Hmmm...Wonder if this is one of the contenders in the MSVS replacement for the MLVW?

Don't Think So..

This truck looks like it will eventually become a cargo vehicle with limited off- road capability. I will check again with the truckers (they all seem to be female in the equipment world - which makes the task so much easier) on Monday. As well, I'll try to get a complete list of civilian pattern vehicles that the army is buying by competitive bid. Here is the partial list:

Heavy Highway Hauler - as posted
IH Cargo - which I think is what the veh above will become
CATs of various sizes
Agricultural tractors of various sizes
Wreckers (to compliment the HSVS and MSVS fleets)
G-Wagon
Forklifts
Busses

More to follow

This veh, or one very similar to it, passed by my house at 1930 hrs tonight.

I kinda think that the testing vehs are now in LFCTA TC Meaford.

Time for a "shufti".
