Re: Interesting Carrier/CMP Pictures on eBay

Brian,

Thanks for posting the link - very interesting pictures.

Apparently the Universal Carriers needed a good breaking in!

Interesting to note all CMP's seem to have been fitted with highway tyres.

5th Picture down

Hey guys,i have identified the fifth picture with the convoy line-up of CMP's.The bridge in the background is the Victoria bridge here in Montreal which I take home on the bus nightly going home,The sight where the picture was taken is now the Bonaventure autoroute which takes you into the heart of Montreal today, about a five minute drive.Interesting photo,

I think you're wrong about that bridge. It looks to me like it's the 19th street bridge across the Saskatchewan River in Saskatoon. The bridge in the other picture looks like the Broadway Bridge in Saskatoon. The Carrier looks to be operating in the scrub poplars in the sand hills at the Dundurn base.

Sorry to burn your bridge Cletrac!!-Pun

The photo is definitely of the Victoria Bribge.Know the superstructure, plus the quarried limestone pylons underneath with the pointed western V shaped prow upriver,if I could tahe a picture from the same location as the original,it will be proof.Anyone out there with a digital camera in my area available. Also don't forget the caption indicating photos from Camp Farnham directly due south across the river from the bridge about 80 km away.Give you credit for the western SNOW photos

Here's a picture of the Victoria (19th street) bridge in Saskatoon from the other side of the river. It sure looks the same to me.

Here's a picture of the Victoria Bridge in Montreal. Note how the top of the superstructyre is flat, not curved like the other pictures. This bridge is obviously much longer than the other two.

Wireless in FAT

Interesting photo which shows a cold wireless operator working a Mk.II 19 set. At first I thought it was a Heavy Utility, but once "un-negatived" it looks like a 13 cab artillery tractor with the radio mounted on some sort of table (facing aft) between the front and rear seats. Never heard tell of this before.

Hi there

Notice the front view of the jeep shows the 'slat bar' grille, it doesn't show the typical lift rings.

Comments Colin?
