Cab 11/12s in old archives
Somewhat in the spirit of the 'in the background' thread I thought it might be fun to start one looking for pictures of cab 11/12 CMPs found in public archives, giving caption where available and source thus:
Here are a couple to start: http://www.slv.vic.gov.au/argus/0/1/3/im/an013293.jpg Quote:

Great photos Keith.
Its interesting to look at the different tyres and the way the chevron patterns are put on. My Dad had to drive Ford Blitz's from 3 BOD Seymour Vic to Terowie in South Aust.in 1942 for use on the North/South Road. He said the heat during his later stint with the 2/7 Independant Commando Squadron in New Guinea was better than the heat coming from the Ford V8 in outback Oz. Regards Rick |
Top # 12
The Top, first # 12 Cab Chevy appears to have been yet another Mid-East delivery that was then sold to the Australian Government.

Returned trucks
Yes, that's part of an interesting series of images the AWM holds. Wonder whether there are any old newsreels of the time.

A pair
We've seen this one before, but it's a good one. Some time ago I sent the library info on the vehicles and they partly amended their caption.

He was doubly fortunate; in Perth he was dragged around by a very nice C15:
