year of manufacture from hull number?

hi, can anyone estimate year of manufacture of a carrier Mk1, 2 pounder, hull number 5322. I need this for registration purposes for road use in the uk.......help!. sorry... no serial no i'm afraid.

Well the "T" number block for the 2pdr carriers was from T51100 - T51199 under contract CDLV213

Carrier T51101 is a standard Mk1* UC built in March 1942 (its located close to me unrestored)
My front armour is T51175 built in April 1942

So I would pick a number in that range with either March or April 1942 as your build date.

hi, Jordan, thanks for the info. I have read alot of your threads and am using your thread on the armoured radio battery box to build one myself, just would like to get ahold of the hinges and catches if they are still available. :note:

Nice list. However two of the numbers are not CT#'s They should be T#'s Not really sure if it makes much difference but that is what is stamped on them.

UC 2MkI 213 Mar 42 CT 51101
UC 2MkI 213 Apr 42 CT 51176

Both of these are only T#'s

Hey Jordon

Sometimes this hobby gives me a headache!!! :bang:

It was my understanding that all canadian carriers were CT XXXX and that in the beginning of production not all were actually hull marked CT and some were only marked with a T number. But that they would still have been a "CT"

My list does have a bias in that I have tried to only post canadian carriers. Hence the CT designations. IF not ALL Canadian carriers were marked CT as they left the factory, was there a rhyme or reason for the variance?

I thought T designations were normally British and Australian carriers. Jordon could you confirm if the 2 carriers you mention were canadian?

If anyone can shed some light....
(Type slowly please!) :yappy:

Jordan Baker 31-07-08 00:34

Yes both of those numbers are Canadian built carriers. One of them is mine and the other is about 15min away from me. It is a Cnd built carrier. However they both have only a "T" followed by the number stamped into them. It is my understanding that they were built under a British contract hense the lack of "C"
