And a little bit of a PzIV Ausf.D

Had a wee bit of interest so I thought I'd share.

This was what started my interest in collecting militaria. A neighbour, a Rat of Tobruk no less, gave me this Panzer 4 ID plate back when I was 14 years old. He had many tales of North Africa which he shared with me. He has long since passed on, but his gifts are still treasured.

According to the serial no. (80748) it is a PzIV Ausf.D. And since it served in North Africa it is one of only a handful.

Very cool!
I'm sure if you flashed that around on the Axis History Forum, they'd be able to give you the combat history if not the entire history of that PzIV.
thanks for sharing.

Magdeburg

Hi Ryan - as an infant I lived for a while in Magdeburg with my maternal grand parents. I got out of there just before the Iron Curtain dropped and returned to Hamburg where my Dad was stationed with the RAF. I remember having to walk across a DMZ to an American Army base from where Mum picked me up. This several hundred yard walk was a daunting task for an infant as all I had was a small duffle bag containing some clothes and a toy rabbit. I also remember an American Army sergeant at the Army Base who gave me the biggest red apple to eat.

Memories - Bob

Interesting read Bob, thank you for sharing.

Colin, it would be nice to know the history of the tank, including who it was knocked out by.
